We are the UK distributors for the SEA MARSHALL range of Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs), Signal Receivers and Direction Finders for man overboard (MOB) recovery. We also supply the WAVELINE LifeSaver Safety Whistle and MityLite Flashing Safety Light.

The greatest danger facing sportsmen and professionals at sea, is being lost overboard. SEA MARSHALL’s offshore safety devices revolutionise the dynamics of MOB recovery and dramatically increase the probability of a successful rescue.

MOB Recovery Systems

In the event of a man overboard situation, the PLB will self-activate 15 seconds after immersion. The PLB will then transmit a signal which can be picked up by an onboard receiver to allow the crew to organise the recovery of the MOB, or if necessary call upon the Search & Rescue (SAR) teams to take over the operation.

The SAR organisations can track the PLB signal on their own equipment. The PLB transmits on 121.5 MHz, which is the fixed, agreed international worldwide emergency distress homing frequency. All SAR aircraft and sea going vessels with the correct equipment can locate and track the signal.

The PLB signal can be pinpointed at sea level from 0.5 to 3 nautical miles (NM) dependant on the height of the equipment and the sea state. From 7 to 15 NM to a helicopter at 1000 feet and 70 NM plus to a fixed wing aircraft at 33,000 feet. It is designed to keep the rescue localised without activating the Global Satellite Systems.

For offshore sailors and fishermen the PLB8-LR beacon with combined radio and electroluminescent flashing antenna is recommended, (£169 inc VAT) and the new ‘SOS’ model, (£199 inc VAT). For divers there is the PLB8-LD beacon with a 100m depth rating, (£207 inc VAT) and new ‘SOS’ model, (£249 inc VAT). For the oil & gas industries, an intrinsic safe model, PLB8-IS, (£224 inc VAT).

The onboard alarm is the CrewGuard CG-21 MOB Proximity Alarm Indicator, (£423 inc VAT) and the SARfinder 1003 MOB Alarm/Direction Finder (£1739 inc VAT).

The LSW Whistle has a 118 dB sound spectrum that conteracts the noise of wind and sea, (£4 inc VAT). The MSL Light is manualy activated, flashes for 8 hours and is visible up to 0.5 NM, (£16 inc VAT). Both units meet SOLAS and RORC requirements.
